VOC 62-
Sample Program
Task:
Cleaning restaurant tables (busing).
Prerequisites:
ADT 24, ADT 124, S&L 19 and VOC 5
Concept:
This sample lesson is an extension of the concept of clearing a table after
meals in a home setting (see prerequisite ADT 24) and cleaning tables and
chairs (see prerequisite ADT 124). In this case, however the assumption is
that the task is taking place in a restaurant setting and different processes
along with faster demands may be present. To generalize the outcome skill
of this effort it is fair to say that the action involved is similar to that
of a "busboy".
Behavioral Objective:
When directed by a "supervisor', to "please bus" an identified table at a
restaurant, the student will carry a tray to the table, place all items not
intended to remain on the table on the tray, take those items to a disposal
or return area and clean the table and chairs to a 90% accuracy for 20 trials.
Materials:
A tray (preferably with deep sides), a clean towel and spray cleaner.
Task Analysis:
1.) Review with the student the concept of cleaning a table in a home environment (see prerequisite ADT 24).
2.) Physically assist the student in obtaining a tray, going to a vacated table and placing all items that don't remain at the table onto the tray.
3.) Once all items are on the tray verbally prompt the student to clean the table and chairs in the same manner as the prerequisite task of cleaning such items in the home (see ADT 124).
4.) Escort the student, with the student carrying the tray but assisting where needed, to the area where the trash, waste food and dirty dishes are taken and empty the tray as appropriate.
5.) Combine the concepts of steps 1 through 3, into one activity that is prompted verbally in a step by step manner.
6.) Continue step 4, reducing prompting down to a total task request.
